    Shannon Hooker is assistant director for the Modlin Center for the Arts, where she is responsible for overseeing operations and volunteer activities, producing annual events through artist residencies, public programs, institutional partnerships, and curriculum integration, and teaching in the arts management interdisciplinary concentration. Additionally, she is actively involved in season programming, grant writing, and strategic initiatives.

    She came to the University of Richmond in 2011 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she led a range of student life programming and operations, including the development of a performing arts and lecture program that featured national and international artists and guest speakers, oversight of the University Union art gallery, game room, and movie theater, and supervision of student-led and campus-wide programming initiatives.

    A classically trained pianist, Shannon currently sings with the Richmond Symphony Chorus. She has been actively involved in the arts on the state level, having served on the executive board of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium, as a participant with the South Arts Dance Touring Initiative, and as a grant review panelist for the North Carolina Arts Council. She holds a B.A. with honors in music from Winthrop University and an M.A. in arts administration from University of New Orleans.
