    Paul Brohan is Executive Director of the Modlin Center for the Arts with more than two decades of experience and expertise in performing arts management, programming, producing, community engagement, commissioning and collaboration in performing arts centers and not-for-profit organizations.  Mr. Brohan is also experienced in managing regional grantsmaking programs having served as Associate Director for Programs with Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.

    Mr. Brohan has extensive presenting, producing and collaborative programming experience in higher education, both public and private institutions, including the University of Iowa, University of Maryland, Northwestern University, University of California Santa Barbara, and University of Michigan-Flint.  Distinguished accomplishments include commissioning and presenting the world premiere of Laurie Anderson’s Landfall with the Kronos Quartet (2019 Grammy Award for best chamber music small ensemble recording); producing the world premiere of A Long Gay Book based on the writings of Gertrude Stein with music by Stephen Flaherty and direction by Frank Galati; producing the American premiere of Ernst Krenek’s opera The Leap Over the Shadow; commissioning Kronos Quartet’s At War With Ourselves with music by Michael Abels and libretto by Nikky Finney.

    Originally trained as a lighting designer, Mr. Brohan has served as lighting designer for more than 100 productions of theatre, opera, ballet and contemporary dance.
